The Top Ten Things We LOVE about Dennis – #1!

This is the first in what will be a series on things we love about living in Dennis, MA!

Today’s post focuses on a little known treasure here in Dennis Village  - HARVEST GALLERY.  There appears to be  a trend in Dennis Village for galleries to have dual personalities! (See my previous post on Borsari Gallery).  Besides being a top notch gallery of contemporary art, Harvest Gallery  is also home to a fabulous wine bar.  As owner/artist Michael Pearson says of his establishment “we entertain all the senses!”  The stylish space hosts the work of 30+ artists (including Pearson himself) as well as the wine bar featuring vintages  from around the world.  A full menu of tasty seasonal food is also offered at small tables and the sit-down bar.  The best part (in my opionion!)??  Harvest Gallery offers LIVE MUSIC by local musicians on weekends!  The Harvest Gallery is a VERY COOL place – don’t miss it!

Gorgeous Renovated Antique in Dennis Village!

Cape Wind Project a “GO”

Here we go again!  Massachusetts is about to make history once again, this time with the first offshore wind farm in the nation.

Secretary of the  Interior Ken Salazar announced this afternoon that  the Cape Wind  Project, ten years in the making, has been been given the “thumbs up”.  The government has accepted the proposal with modifications  to include:  a reduction in the size of the turbines from 170′ down to 130′; requiring the developer to conduct additional marine surveys to address the impact on Nantucket Sound and to take  ”other steps” to make the turbines less visible from the shore.

As stated in my previous post on this subject,  local Wampanoag  tribes are among those strongly opposed to the wind farm, in their case because of  the location  in what they term “sacred waters”. We will soon see if they make good on their announced intention to pursue legal action to stop the project from going forward. 

Ted Kennedy is undoubtedly turning over in his grave.

“Happy New Year!” is the refrain at this time of year.  And here at Lomenzo Properties, we are indeed off to a happy start!

On New Year’s Day, after several months of less than vigorous sales activity, we received FOUR offers from our clients on properties in price ranges from $200K to $2,000,000.  Interestingly, the properties are located in towns/villages  representing a wide range of Cape markets: DENNIS , CHATHAM,  WEST YARMOUTH and HARWICH PORT.  Two of the offers have been negotiated to acceptance and two more are in process.

Needless to say,  this kind of activity fuels our optimism for the upturn in the Cape Real Estate Market for 2010!  What are you waiting for ?!  :)

Cape Cod Real Estate Rebounding for the Season

Cape Cod Real Estate is rebounding from 3 long years of declining values.  The year-to-date change in Sales Volume of Single Family homes in Dennis and Brewster are leading the way for all of Cape Cod.  Brewster and Harwich are experiencing only slight declines in Median Prices, while Dennis is seeing a surge in Sales Volume to less than a 5% decline.  Cape Cod has shown amazing resilience this year as Sales Volume and Median Prices have dropped under 9%.  We call it a rebound.  You can call it – Opportunity!
